Effective and Safe Methods to Clean an Electric Toothbrush

While we bother ourselves with doing everything to maintain our oral hygiene do we bother much to maintain our toothbrush? Majority of the people do not understand the importance of keeping the toothbrush clean. Electric brushes being an expensive investment need to be maintained so that they will help you serve better and for a longer duration.

So, what will you do to maintain your electric brush spic and span and give you a long life?

We have a lot of equipment (like the electric brush, gum stimulators, interdental brushing aids, etc) and oral hygiene aids like the dental floss, your paste, and a mouthwash to help us maintain our oral hygiene. The prime most requisite to keeping the brush clean is to maintain the area where you store all the hygiene aids clean.

Next, we have to do a daily quick maintenance and a monthly maintenance to keep the electric toothbrush clean.

The daily maintenance will involve thorough rinsing of the brush head so that no toothpaste remains on. This will ensure that the brush is totally clean of any removed plaque or accumulated food debris too. Once the rinsing is over, the brush head should be left to air dry.

When the brush is being cleaned, it is better if you remove the brush head and give it a clean. This will ensure that no water gets into the area ofthe motor or the circuits of the brush.

Monthly maintenance will involve soaking the brush head in a glass of diluted bleach for close to an hour or so and then rinsed thoroughly to clean out the bleach and the bristles of the brush.

Remember, your electric brush is a costly piece of equipment and it needs to be kept clean to be able to do its job better and for a longer duration of time. A few minutes spent on doing this will take you a long way.
