Why I joined a golf club

Not long after visiting a cosmeticdentistryguide.co.uk/teethwhitening.html, after seeing an ad placed at the university for student accommodation Leeds , I had my feet up in our communal lounge, cigar in hand, feeling quite proud of myself for finally taking this step of moving out of my parent's home.

As I sat there feeling right chuffed, I noticed a book on the shelf that said “Aviation Pioneers”. My course was a BSc Aviation Technology. What a cooincidence! Or was it? It's one of those moments when you wonder if a book like this is an omen pointing that you are on the right path. So I closed my eyes and just opened it. The chapter was about Robert Blackburn, who lived from 1885 to 1955. He designed aircraft for the navy and military, and a founded a golf club in Scarcroft.

Although Scarcroft is in Leeds, Blackburn was born in Kirkhall not that far from both University of Leeds and also Leeds Metropolitan University.

It occurred to me then that if I didn't succeed in Aviation, that I could always enter the golfing profession, or is that a fallacy of thought? Careers in golf range from not just the Caddy or the Golfer, but include Course Manager, Player Manager, Golf Course Designer, Health and Fitness Trainer, Tournament Director, and Sports Physiologist. With this in mind, I decided to join a golf club, get to know the game, just as a back-up.
